FORENSICS (Speech and Debate)

The Forensic Team provides a structure within which students, guided by their teachers, may become proficient in the communication arts.  These arts include the ability to analyze human problems; research varied and complex issues; gather and organize relevant materials; formulate an integrated, consistent and persuasive presentation; master and use the skills of oral communication in a responsible and ethical manner.  The ultimate outcome should be ever-growing, learning, involved, productive, citizen-statesmen who have the ability to make logical, sensitive, and informed decisions, which can express and defend their ideas, who are willing to test those ideas in a wide variety of public forums, and who can be held accountable for the ethical and social impact of those ideas.

Requirements:

All students enrolled at South View High are eligible to compete with the Forensic Team.  The team competes at tournaments throughout the school year at various locations in the county and state.  Some competitions are by invitation only.   Students must remain in good academic standing (generally with a 2.75 unweighted GPA or higher) with the understanding that their discipline records are subject to administrative review.  Since competitions are held on other school campuses, Forensics Team members are expected to be upstanding behavioral role models.

Meets:  TBA

Please contact the school directly if you need additional information about this club.
