Academy of Scholars

Academy of Scholars

Sixteen years ago, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) created the Academy of Scholars (AOS), a competitive program designed to prepare high achieving students to successfully obtain scholarships and prestigious university admissions.  Eligible students attend monthly seminars held at high schools, local university campuses and community sites throughout the school year.  Students are selected by the Scholarship Committee at each high school during the fall semester of their 11th grade year.  Each comprehensive high school has 20 seniors and 20 juniors participate in the program.   College admissions representatives state that they have begun to look for participation in the Academy of Scholars when accepting students because they know these individuals are prepared for the stressors and reality of life beyond high school.

Please contact Ms. Lawson in our Guidance Office about this program.
