Registration is now open for students who are interested in pursuing a Military Career! Now is the time to sign up for the second fall 2019 ASVAB test. Please register here for the exam. You must be in the 10th (ROTC ONLY), 11th, or 12th grade to register. The ASVAB will be administered in the SVHS Auditorium. Please make sure you are there by 8:30 a.m. to sign in. The last day to register will be Friday, November 15, 2019, by 4:00 p.m.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE ASVAB TEST?

    • Your scores in four critical areas — Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Mathematics Knowledge (see below) — count towards your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether you’re qualified to enlist in the U.S. military.
  • Your scores in the other areas of the ASVAB will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and Enlistment Bonuses. A high score will improve your chances of getting the specialty/job and signing bonus you want.
  • Scoring high on the ASVAB will require study and concentration.
  • Please visit the ASVAB program website for more information on the ASVAB Test.
  • Don’t skimp on preparing for this test. It’s your future. Get the most out of it.

Ms. Damaris Prieto!

On Monday, September 16, 2019, Superintendent, Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., unexpectedly showed up during Ms. Prieto’s planning period here at South View High School and gave her the shock of a lifetime. Dr. Connelly, Jr., presented Ms. Prieto with balloons and flowers to congratulate her.

It was the school district’s special way to recognize the ninth-grade lateral entry English teacher for being selected as CCS’ Beginning Teacher (BT) of the Year. Several school administrators and 15 of her coworkers were on hand to see Prieto, who was truly overjoyed.

We are very proud of our Tiger Teacher! Congratulations Ms. Prieto!
