ASVAB Test: Friday, December 14, 2018 at 9:00am

Registration is now open for students who are interested in pursuing a Military Career! Now is the time to sign up for the Fall 2018 ASVAB test. Please use the link to register for the test. The last day to register will be Wednesday, December 12, 2018 by 4:00pm.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE ASVAB TEST?

  • Your scores in four critical areas — Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Mathematics Knowledge (see below) — count towards your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether you’re qualified to enlist in the U.S. military.
  • Your scores in the other areas of the ASVAB will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and Enlistment Bonuses. A high score will improve your chances of getting the specialty/job and signing bonus you want.
  • Scoring high on the ASVAB will require study and concentration.
  • Please visit this website for more information on the ASVAB Test.
  • Don’t skimp on preparing for this test. It’s your future. Get the most out of it.

A note with a push pin with the words Put This On Your Calendar written in pink, green, blue and gold colorsBoard Approves Make-Up Days from Recent Hurricane

Due to Hurricane Florence, students in the Cumberland County Schools (CCS) lost several days of valuable classroom instruction. Earlier this week, the State provided CCS with calendar flexibility, which eliminated the requirement for CCS to make up all of the days missed because of the hurricane. However, in the interest of preserving instructional time for students, the Board voted to approve the following make-up days as full instructional days for students. Previously, some of the days were teacher workdays and two-hour early release days.
